In 2013, a banner was installed along the waterfront in Hong Kong that replaced the hazy skyline behind it with a picturesque, smog-free version for tourist photos. Many publicly-accessible online images present both skylines—the real skyline and its simulacrum—in the same photo. This piece borrows the form of the banner from the 2013 initiative. The sections real sky included in Curtain are sourced from the margins of appropriated tourist photos taken in front of the artificial skyline banner.
